What is Lion’s mane?

Lion’s mane (Hericium erinaceus) is an edible mushroom with long spines which resemble a lion’s mane. They typically grow on dead or dying hardwood trees in temperate forests across North America, Europe and Asia.

Lion’s mane benefits:

Our Organic Lion’s mane capsules provide 100% fruiting body powder. This provides higher naturally occurring concentrations of beneficial compounds such as hericenones, ergothioneine and polysaccharides such as beta glucans, as these are concentrated in the fruiting body at higher levels than the mycelium.

Hericenones:

These compounds are found in Lion’s mane and studies have shown benefits related to brain health and cognitive function.

Ergothioneine:

This compound is a naturally occurring amino acid found in foods, particularly mushrooms.

Polysaccharides:

These include beta glucans which have immune supporting properties. The polysaccharide content in the whole fruiting body powder typically provides around 24% beta 1-3,1-6 glucans.
